Inside CS Medical's Lab

At CS Medical, our scientists and inventors are always looking for new and innovative ways of reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and making our products accessible for all our customers. To accomplish these goals, we have recently upgraded and significantly expanded our in-house Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratories. This renovation helps keep us on the cutting edge of our field and provides you with great products that can get the job done right, every time, saving you time, money, and stress.

Because we have an in-house lab, our team is able to constantly come up with great new ideas and put them to the test right away. Instead of picking and choosing which ideas to try and investing lots of time and money to have testing done by a third party, we can perform testing right here. This gives the brains of our operation the chance to try any of their ideas out and see if they work.

The freedom granted by having a fully-functional and operational lab in-house is priceless as it makes discovery and advancement that much easier to achieve. All of this is not just pie in the sky wishful thinking; we’ve had marvelous results. The new lab has allowed our thinkers to create some great new products, like the TD 200® Automated TEE Probe Disinfector with TD 12® AquaCide® High Level Disinfectant and the TEEClean® Automated TEE Probe Cleaner Disinfector. It has even led to the recent development of the UV Light Box, which was created to help frontline healthcare workers with the PPE shortage faced because of COVID-19.

Developing new products and ideas is not the only reason CS Medical has an in-house lab. Our lab gives our staff the resources they need to test, test, and re-test our products to scientifically validate their effectiveness and safety. The rigorous tests they perform give insight, for example, into the effects of various high-level disinfectants (HLDs) on microorganisms, giving us peace of mind that our HLDs (TD-5®, TD-8®, and TD-12® AquaCide®) will eliminate the microbes they will come into contact with on soiled TEE ultrasound probes.

In the lab, they’re also able to perform material compatibility testing, which is critical to ensuring that our products are compatible with one another and with your delicate and expensive TEE probes. Our team of scientists has even come out with a few studies to help answer some of the most commonly asked questions we have received from our customers. One frequently asked question is, “How long can a probe be stored before they should be reprocessed?” Our lab’s recent Hang Time Study revealed that it is safe to store high-level disinfected probes in our CleanShield® TEE Probe Storage Cabinet for up to seven days between disinfections. And our scientists, like Thomas H. Fischer, Ph.D., our Chief Science Officer, are able to contribute new studies to advance the field through white papers, like this one (link to COVID-19 and Pathogen Transmission by TEE Probes).

Lastly, being able to test our products in-house cuts down on the cost and time of researching and developing new technologies. As a result, we are able to bring our latest developments to you as quickly as possible, keeping your facility at the cutting edge of infection prevention.

Our ultimate goal at CS Medical is to aid healthcare workers in the fight to reduce and, eventually, eliminate the risk of spreading HAIs. The Microbiology and Chemistry Labs at our facility are key components to achieving this goal. Especially during the unprecedented times facing infection preventionists with COVID-19 looming large, we hope to bring a light to your side and aid you in making HAIs history.

About CS Medical

Founded in 2003, CS Medical LLC is a leader in developing, manufacturing, and marketing medical devices that are designed to provide cleaning and high-level disinfection of ultrasound probes. Our products are engineered and developed with one single objective in mind: to minimize the potential of patient exposure to improperly reprocessed ultrasound probes. Our core products, the TEEClean® Automated TEE Probe Cleaner Disinfector and Ethos Automated Ultrasound Probe Cleaner Disinfector, are examples of our ongoing commitment to innovation and to the health and safety of medical patients and staff.

Beyond cleaning and high-level disinfection of endocavity and surface ultrasound probes, CS Medical believes in managing the quality of care given to delicate ultrasound probes. Our product offering provides solutions for healthcare facilities to minimize ultrasound probe damage and reduce the potential of contaminating high-level disinfected probes prior to use. The products address the following areas: bedside cleaning, point of care cleaning, electrical leakage testing, drying, transporting, and storing the ultrasound probe. Our objective is to manage the care given to each ultrasound probe thus allowing for a reduction in healthcare associated infections.

Located in Creedmoor, North Carolina, CS Medical's products provide quality device care and storage by minimizing healthcare operational costs, improving device readiness, and increasing regulatory compliance.
