TEEClean: A Class of Its Own

TEEClean: A Class of Its Own

One of the great benefits of living in the twenty-first century is the sheer volume of options we have available to us at the click of a button. While it's great to be able to pick and choose solutions for our exact needs, having nearly unlimited options has its drawbacks. Various products start to blur together and it can be hard to keep them distinct in our minds. Every now and then, one product stands out above the rest: TEEClean Automated TEE Probe Cleaner Disinfector is a product without equal.

TEEClean is truly an innovative concept which has not been paralleled. It is notable for many features, but a few really work to make TEEClean unique.

Automated Cleaning and Disinfection

As the name implies, TEEClean is the first FDA-cleared product of its kind to not only automate the disinfection process, but the cleaning process for TEE ultrasound probes. By automating this step, TEEClean reduces the chance of human error, helping to mitigate the risk of spreading HAIs.

Automation of cleaning and disinfection also means that staff has more time on their hands to attend to other, more pressing tasks. Rather than sitting and staring into basins of solution, staff will have the opportunity to simply insert TEE probes into TEEClean and walk away, knowing that the probe will be properly cleaned and disinfected every time. With turnover rates soaring and not enough new hires to fill empty positions, employing automation can help your facility utilize the staff you do have to its fullest potential.

5 Nanometer Filtered Water

While TEEClean's competitors boast that their devices come equipped with water filters, what they don't tell you is that their filters are significantly less effective than TEEClean's water filter. TEEClean incorporates an FDA-cleared 0.005 micron water filter which effectively keeps water used in rinse cycles free from any particulate matter or contaminants which could be harmful to patients. That is forty times more filtration power than the CDC's recommendation. Other disinfection devices on the market only offer protection down to 0.2 microns which may allow harmful contaminants through.

Currently, standards for water quality are set by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). One of their latest standards is AAMI ST108: Water for the Processing of Reusable Medical Devices. As this standard goes into effect, it will be more important than ever for medical facilities to focus on water quality.

Documentation

TEEClean is also useful in helping your facility stay organized and accountable with regards to documentation of all events surrounding the high-level disinfection of a TEE ultrasound probe. TEEClean captures and records all maintenance activities, which probes were cleaned and by whom, electrical leakage testing performed and results. These reports are printable and are even stored in the system's memory, downloadable to thumb drive. With other systems, downloadable records can potentially run into problems with HIPAA compliance, but TEEClean's storage methods carefully omit all protected health information making it perfectly compatible with HIPAA guidelines.

Self-Disinfection Cycle

TEEClean is the first unit of its kind to offer full system high-level disinfection for added preventative maintenance. Using its full-color LCD touchscreen, the unit walks users through a process by which the unit is completely high-level disinfected within, making it sanitary and safe for continued use. This process is very simple and only needs to be completed once every three months; this small step will help keep the unit running optimally and effectively for years to come.

After looking carefully at the incredible features provided by TEEClean, it is clear that TEEClean is in a class of its own. By automating two time-consuming and complicated steps, it saves staff members time and helps minimize handling of the delicate probe. The 5 nanometer water filter prevents pollutants from contaminating a clean probe. The documentation tracked and organized by TEEClean helps keep compliance and provides accountability. And the self-disinfection cycle ensures that the device meant for cleaning does not itself become a source of contamination.

About CS Medical

CS Medical LLC has pioneered the automated disinfection process for Transesophageal ultrasound probes with the development and release of the TD 100® Automated TEE Probe Disinfector. In 2005, the TD 100 was the first FDA cleared automated disinfection process with printed verification for Transesophageal ultrasound probes. During the disinfection process, the TEE probe receives high-level disinfection in (5) five minutes from TD-5® or TD-8® followed by (5) five complete rinse cycles before disinfection confirmation is acknowledged and a report is printed. The verification report indicates probe contact time with the high-level disinfectant as well as the average temperature of the single-use disinfectant during each cycle.

For more than 15 years and over 4 million high-level disinfections, the TD 100 Automated TEE Probe Disinfector has eliminated manual reprocessing of delicate and expensive TEE ultrasound probes while also providing a repeatable and FDA cleared disinfection process. The TEEClean® Automated TEE Probe Cleaner Disinfector will continue the TD 100's work by automating the required cleaning process for the TEE probe before high-level disinfection. TEEClean, with electronic record data logging, printed verification reporting, FDA cleared cleaning, and high-level disinfection will be the standard of care for TEE ultrasound probes.

CS Medical's TEE Complete Care® products provide quality device care and storage by minimizing healthcare operational costs, improving service readiness and increasing regulatory compliance.
