As CS Medical celebrates its twentieth anniversary in the medical device industry, it is a time to reflect on our journey and achievements. In the last two decades, we have worked tirelessly to develop and manufacture high-quality medical equipment that is designed come alongside medical professionals to save lives and improve patient outcomes. From humble beginnings, we have grown to become a leader in the field, known for our innovative products, exceptional customer service, and commitment to excellence, but we haven’t forgotten where we come from.
Over the years, CS Medical has introduced several groundbreaking medical devices that have helped to revolutionize the way transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) ultrasound probes are reprocessed and stored. Every one of our products is designed with healthcare facilities and their patients in mind. Our dedication to quality and safety has resulted in our products being utilized and trusted by healthcare professionals around the world.
In the beginning, CS Medical’s founder, Gregory Dobbyn, manufactured and sold a product to manually reprocess TEE ultrasound probes called the ACTE50; it held high-level disinfectant in tubes while TEE probes soaked. After just a few years in 2006, CS Medical launched an ingenious device which would be the first of its kind in North America: the TD 100® Automated TEE Probe Disinfector, an automated reprocessor for TEE probes. After a couple of years of review and testing, the TD 100 and its proprietary chemistry, TD-5, were launched upon clearance by the US FDA.
Over the next few years, CS Medical continued to pioneer advances in the reprocessing industry. In 2011, the CleanShield® TEE Probe Storage Cabinet was developed to protect newly disinfected TEE probes from contamination. The TPorter® TEE Ultrasound Probe Procedure Case and Transportation Case provided healthcare facilities a way to transport TEE probes from one place to another without damage or cross-contamination. In 2016, CS Medical incorporated electrical leakage testing equipment directly into the TD 100 workflow to streamline the reprocessing procedure and save time while ensuring patient safety.
Many other developments have occurred throughout these twenty years, but CS Medical’s next biggest invention to alter the reprocessing landscape was the TEEClean® Automated TEE Probe Cleaner Disinfector. This unique device was the first to gain clearance from the FDA to both clean and high-level disinfect TEE ultrasound probes in a single unit, making reprocessing TEE probes faster, safer, and fool-proof. TEEClean was the industry’s first total one-step solution to reprocessing probes.
CS Medical has always been eager to make a difference in our community and the world. In 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, CS Medical stepped into the fray and joined forces with AirClean Systems to provide the UV Light Box, which uses shortwave UV light to decontaminate N95 respirators, helping to ease the N95 shortage facing the world at the time. And despite the big impact we’ve been able to have, CS Medical has always kept its feet firmly planted on the ground and we have not abandoned our roots. Founded in Raleigh, NC, our products are still manufactured just a few miles north in Creedmoor, NC today. We are proud to make our products with high quality and incredible workmanship right here in the U.S.A.
